End of Year Training, Testing & Celebration- June 13th
Join us for a special end-of-year training event featuring guest instructors, multiple workshops, belt testing, and our first ever annual awards celebration.
This is a great opportunity for athletes to train with experienced instructors, learn new skills, and celebrate the progress made throughout the season.
Date: Saturday, June 13
Location: Tracadie Cross Community Centre
💲 Cost: $40 half day (2 classes) or $70 for the full day (all classes)
Open to everyone.

10:00 AM – Irish & Scottish Stick Fighting (Ages 10+)
with Roger Stone & Coach Aoife Roger Stone has been involved in the martial arts full-time since 1997, when he began training at the Bushido-Kai Martial Arts Academy in the historic Bloomfield Centre in Halifax. At that time, the academy played an important role in introducing Muay Thai and submission grappling to the region. Roger began his martial arts journey studying Japanese Jujitsu in both the Yoshin-Ryu and Bushido-Kai lineages under the instruction of Ray McKinnon. Over the years, he expanded his training into several disciplines including Judo, the Canadian Shootwrestling System, and later Jun Fan Gung-Fu / Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts. A major focus of Roger’s study has been the research and preservation of Celtic Stick Fighting traditions. He founded and led the Celtic Stick Fighting Society of Nova Scotia, a program dedicated to studying historical methods of stick fighting and keeping these traditions alive through training and instruction. |

with Sensei Jeff Murphy 1:30 PM – Kumite Training (All ages and levels) with Sensei Jeff Murphy Sensei Jeff Murphy has been practicing Shotokan Karate since 1991 and teaching since 1994. He is the Chief Instructor of Murphy’s Karate Academy, a position he has held since 2011, and is widely respected for his technical knowledge, competitive experience, and commitment to developing athletes. A native of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Sensei Murphy began his karate journey at the age of 14 and has trained with dojos across Canada throughout his career. Sensei Murphy has achieved success both as a competitor and as a coach. His competition highlights include: 🥈 Silver Medalist – Team Kumite, ISKF World Championships 🥈 Silver Medalist – Individual Kumite, JKA National Championships 🥇 2× National Gold Medalist – Team Kumite (JKA) 🥈 2× National Silver Medalist – Team Kumite (JKA) 🥉 1× National Bronze Medalist – Team Kumite (JKA) 🥉 4× National Bronze Medalist – Team Kata (JKA) In addition to his competitive career, Sensei Murphy plays an important leadership role in karate development in Atlantic Canada. He has served as Assistant Coach with Karate Nova Scotia since 2017, is the Technical Director of Karate Nova Scotia, and is a NCCP Competition Development Certified Coach. |
